I purchased this set almost two years ago. Back then, the price for this set was $150, so I got an even better deal. Prior to that, my only other pans were my lodge cast iron skillets, and some other very poor cheap pans. For the first year, the pans held up tremendously. I cooked 4-5 times a week, and often cooked meals for over 20 people using just these pans. They heated fairly evenly, and produced great results. They made cooking so much more fun as I could make food that was impossible with poorer quality pans. However, as my cooking has developed, and I moved to higher-end pans such as the Calphalon tri-ply, Calphalon-one nonsticks, and my all-clad stainless pieces, I've begun to see a lot more faults with this set. For one, the non-stick coating has begun to peel and flake miserably. The 10" skillet, which I have used probably 5x more than the 8" skillet is now unusable. No, they have never been in a dish washer or abused with metal utensils. I wanted a traditional fry pan, and decided to purchase the calphalon tri-ply 12", and immediately noticed a huge difference. The clad pan heated much more rapidly, and much more evenly. It was just better in every way, and since then, I eventually moved on to purchase a 10 piece all clad stainless steel set, and felt that it was worth every penny. I understand that not everyone can spend $500-$600 dollars on a set of pans, but I would really suggest that you try to save up a little bit longer and go for the calphalon tri-ply or the all-clad if you can. I've since used clad pans just as much if not more than the Simply Calphalon pans, and they still perform as new. The Simply Calphalon pans seem to take longer to heat up now and have developed hot spots. They're still very usable, and I can still make great food with these pans, but I think that saving up for a little bit more for the higher end pans would have saved me money in the long run, and space in my kitchen. But, if $200 is all you have, this is definitely a fantastic set and well worth the money. I would also look at the Kirkland Set, which I bought for my mom and have used extensively. They're very different, as they're hard anodized, solid aluminum pans, and must be treated and approached differently - it just depends on what you're looking for.

I did a lot of research in my hunt for the best cheaper cookware, and this is what I settled on. I have not been disappointed. They look nice, cook well, etc. My only cons are that they do discolor easily (but hey, this is cookware, not modern art) and items such as rice do burn to the bottom, even if you add oil/butter. Other than that though, I do love these, and I plan on using them for a loooong time to come.

I bought the Calphalon simply stainless cookware 12 piece set (not offered any more?) and a couple extra open stock pieces over two years ago. It arrived within days with no shipping charge. This is the greatest cookware set I've ever owned. Sticking food is NOT a problem, and the cookware maintains a lovely appearance with really no special care. All the saucepans are stainless, but the 8- and 10-inch fry pans have a non-stick finish. The glass lids were a requirement, and I wouldn't ever go back to metal lids again. I would recommend this set, this line, to anyone who wants a nice-looking, nice-functioning cookware set that can go into the dishwasher. I would definitely buy this again, but I think this set will work well for years and years.

I saved for four months to purchase this set and was not disappointed in its performance. My only wish is that the 12-piece set which included the 4 quart sauce pan was still offered.

I've been very happy with this set, especially with it being dishwasher safe! The only thing I didn't realize was that I previously had a 2 qt and 4 qt sauce pan, whereas the two smaller ones with this are 1 and 2 qts. The glass lids are great for watching food cook and seem pretty sturdy. I'd consider myself a very amateur cook, so its hard for me to comment on cooking time/heat transfer, etc, but overall I would definitely recommend this set to someone looking for a good quality set that isn't too $$$, and is dishwasher safe!

Excellent set, includes all you need, use right out of the box, has everything to start a kitchen pot/pan set.

First of all, LOVE the heat-resistant handles!!! Slow to heat (on electric range w/ceramic top), but heat distributes evenly & persists to keep food warm. Durable, but only modestly heavy (much lighter than cast iron), AND very quick to clean :) Non-stick pans lovely, but delicate surfaces (no metal utensils). Appears dishwasher safe to us (after several washings). Overall, very pleased with peformance for the monetary investment.

When we moved here from Italy, I promised myself a *good* set of cookware. I saw a recommendation for this on the Flylady-related "Saving Dinner" site. While I was dubious, I didn't have any reason to get anything else, so I tried it.

I absolutely love this set. I use it for *everything*. It cleans up like a breeze and never sticks. I cannot imagine having to go back to my old stuff. I'm also amazed at the quality for the price - I was expecting good decent stuff, but nothing this solid and well-made.

I cannot recommend this set highly enough. The only thing I've added is an insert for straining pasta (which fits into the pot quite nicely).

I've used the set daily for 2 years now (and I am anything but gentle with my kitchen utensils) and it looks almost new.

UPDATE: It's 2009 now. I'm so in love with stainless steel cookware because of this set that I've been using daily for several years, that my DH agreed with my decision this spring to upgrade to AllClad. My trusty Simply Calphalon set will be passed along to someone else who needs a good, solid, usable set of stainless.

It's still just as easy to clean as the first day I got it. The thing about "dishwasher safe but not recommended" is just that, after you dishwasher it, sometimes it has a bit of rainbowing or "stain" in the pans. Big deal. I rarely toss mine in the dishwasher anyway since they're so easy to clean up. My one complaint over the years is that the rivet on one of the pots (the biggest skillet) has come loose a bit. The primary reason I'm upgrading is due to my new induction cooker - I want cookware now that all works on induction, which the Calphalon stuff doesn't (some does, some doesn't).

Summary: this is the best set for anyone who doesn't want to (or can't) fork out the dough for All Clad. Add good cutlery (like Global), and a decent bakeware set and you're set.

Love this set. It looks wonderful in any kitchen. The handles are sturdy, and the glass lids make it easy to see how your food is cooking. Takes a little time to understand how to use the set properly so that you cook everything evenly and so that you don't have any sticky messes during clean-up. Great set.

For almost two years I've had this set, along with a few others in the same product line that I've also purchased. I use at least a few of these daily. They have great weight and balance, good heat distribution, are easy to clean (especially the nonstick pans), and are very reasonably priced.

Before purchasing, I considered the tri-ply pans, however the handles were terrible, especially when trying to hold the additional weight of the pans themselves. Plus they are more expensive - not worth the price for the tri-ply.

I'd definitely recommend this set of Simply Calphalon pans to anyone - great product and good price.
