But how long will it be before the Indonesian lady in the out-sourced fulfillment group deciphers my message, and the document arrives? 1 week? 1 month? Who knows?



The lack of a downloadable manual warrants a one star for this product.









I purchased this nail gun based on my previous experience with the quality of Porter-Cable pneumatic tools. Aside from this one I own 4 other Porter-Cable nail guns, I have been very satisfied with all of them.



This nailer is no disappointment. In the time I have owned it I have used it for installing asphalt shingles, tar paper, aluminum drip end, vinyl siding, and vinyl trim pieces. It has performed very well in all instances. It has ample power to drive 1.75" nails flush while performing roofing applications.



The adjustable depth of drive also proves very useful while installing vinyl siding. Setting it to the minimum depth setting allows you to drive the nails into the nailing slots in siding while still leaving the 1/16" gap necessary to allow the siding to expand and contract under changes in temperature.



While using this nailer I have never experienced a jammed nail, it has always performed flawlessly. The only negative I can see in this nail gun is that it does not have marks on the nose to indicate exactly where the nail will be placed. This makes precise placement of the nail slightly difficult. I don't think this is enough of a negative point to reduce this nail gun from its "5 star" status because I very easily solved the problem by making marks of my own with a silver colored permanent marker.





Tool showed up the day before it was scheduled for delivery. Cool!



I've ordered refurbished Porter-Cable nail guns before and all have worked flawlessly. Only downside with this one is that it did not come with a case. The other two I've ordered (from different vendors on Amazon) both came with plastic cases. This one was wrapped in bubble wrap. It did have the small bottle of oil with it.



So far, no jams or problems, used on one roof.





Was lucky enought to get a new one (i.e. not reconditioned) on Amazon in early June which was being clearanced for just $160 (even had free shipping!). I'm using it on a small project to put cement board siding on my garage.



I've experienced some of the issues with having to finish some nails with hand-nailing, but I'm driving the max length 1-3/4" through a layer of cement. Seems to be less of an issue when well lubricated, but still occurs. Definately works better than the alternative of pre-drilling and hand-nailing. For the price, I'm ahead after this project.



Overall meets expectations.

I purchased a refurbished version of this tool approximately ten months ago and have used it on several roofing jobs. In all cases, the unit performed very well and with no misfires. I did use a major brand of nails just to avoid any potential problem that might possibly result from a "unknown" product.



The Porter-Cable nailer is compact, easy to load and lightweight, making for comfortable extended periods of use. I do find myself needing to adjust the depth of drive rather frequently, but I am wondering if that is not necessitated by factors such as variations in the composition of the roof decking and even external temperature fluctuations which can alter the nailing resistance of the shingles. One other factor might just be the fact that being a rather careful worker, I probably checked the depth to which the nails were being driven more often.



Regarding that depth adjustment knob, I discovered an error in the manual which accompanied my tool. In the photograph which proports to show this feature, the trigger is mistakenly labeled as the adjustment knob. The instructions regarding the direction in which the wheeled knob is turned to either increase or decrease the depth to which the nail can be driven is also erroneously reversed.



However this was not a great problem as the various features on the tool are well marked and self explanatory, making for rather effortless use. (I especially appreciated the option of being able to easily select either the single sequential or contact actuation mode.) Additionaly, I have always found Porter=Cable/Delta to run an excellent customer hotline service which has always proven to be an added benefit in case one requires technical assistance.









I own 5 different types of air nailers from Bostich, Porter Cable, and Senco and this nailer is by far the best. It is easy to load and use, never jams, reasonably priced, and is not too heavy. In other words it is perfect. It makes those dreadful roofing projects just a little more tolerable.





Executive Summary: Just buy it. It works very well!



Story: I started a small project over the Holiday weekend and got way in over my head. I only had a small 160 square foot edition to re-roof. After a three layer tear off, rotted decking and two days of prep work I was ready to give up. I went to Home Depot and purchased the least expensive gun they had (this Porter Cable for $228). I was able to nail 2/3 of the roof in two hours with no issues.



Tech Specs: I used a Porter Cable Dual Stack compressor set at 105 PSI and 100 feet of hose. I set the gun to the shallowest depth drive and it had more than enough force.





bought this after the hurricans hit Fl.last year. Have done a half dozzen roofs with it includding my own and some hardee planking and it has worked flawlessly, no jams, concistant drive depth, the guy that had problems with it might have been a compressor problem.The people that I've been roofing with have hitachis and stanley bositches and the inexpensive little porter cable works the best. Also like the new selctable trigger switch, wish all my nail guns had it.





I have one of these little nailers - mostly used for roofing sheds. It works good. No complaints. Maybe one nail in 80-100 I'll finish with a light tap with a hammer. That's probably more a ding on the little compressor I use than on the nailer. For what I use it for it works fine. As the man said - It sure beats a hammer.





I should preface this review by saying that this is the first nailer that I have owned other than a brad or staple nailer. My exposure to nailers of this size is limited.<p>I just finished a siding job on a rent house that I own. The siding I used was Hariplank and it called for roofing nails for installation. I paid $249 for this nailer at Lowes.<p>The good:<p>- Much better than a hammer!<br>- No jams whatsoever<br>- Durable and tough (with the exception of the magazine cover)<p>The bad:<p>- Heavy!!! During the middle of my siding project I worked two days on a habitat for humanity project. On that project I used a DeWalt angled framing nailer. The DeWalt was much lighter than the PC. When climbing up and down ladders and on roofs a few pounds is really noticed.<br>- Inconsistant driving depth. Probably half of the nails stopped 1/4" - 1/2" short of being flush with the siding. When I attempted to adjust the depth some of the nails were impacting too hard so I had to back off the depth again. Maybe this had something to do with the fact that the material was fiber cement rather than wood?<br>- The magazine cover is made from a very flimsy plastic. It didn't break on me but I imagine that one day it will.<br>- For the price a carrying/storage case would have been nice.

I bought this on ebay for 159.00 incl. s&h. I've always wanted this toaster. Mine is the '08 electronic version from williams sonoma. The pictures online do not show the new design. The slots accomodate 1/2" wide bread. I think that is plenty for me. It has a choice of 1 to 4 slots, 1 to 2 bagels toasting on one side option. I can cancel by turning to off position. I can even add or decrease browning while toasting.
It also has a defrost option. It does state to warm for 2-3 minutes, but it gives you a "browning boost" for the 2 first cycles. It gets really hot so be careful if it sits under a cabinet. If you're into investing in proper equipment, than this is the choice for you. Oh, and did I add that it's beautiful?


I received this toaster as a wedding gift and I love the way it looks more than anything. I also loved the way it toasted, when it worked properly. This is my 2nd Dualit in 9 years to go packing. The first died of interior problems. The 2nd almost burned my house down this morning because the timer stuck and kept cooking the toast. I knew this months ago, but still clung to hopes that perhaps it was a temporary problem.

Luckily, my Dualit was purchased at williams-sonoma and they were offering a lifetime warranty on the thing when it was purchased for me. When I called to get my next replacement I was informed that they no longer carried Dualit but I could have a nice healthy merchandise credit in its place. Now I realize why they're not carrying it any longer...

I'm sad that my beautiful toaster has to go, but it IS what's on the inside that really matters, isn't it?


Hey, might be pricier, but at least I use it more than once every few months!


This toaster is like that old boyfriend that didn't work and didn't treat you well but was so good looking you didn't want to give him up. I gave it 3 years of my life before finally facing the truth! Sure, it impresses my friends at a party, but bottom line I need a toaster that works, and this one just doesn't. It's not a defective unit, but is just so much work! It will not toast bread unless you "warm it up." Who has time for that? It effectively lengthens the toasting time to 4-5 minutes or more. Also, the slots are too thin and short for even our store-bought whole wheat bread and I have to put it in vertically, resulting in uneven toasting. No bread I have ever bought fits the proportions of the slots so I really don't know if it toasts evenly when bread is inserted the correct way. Also, the unit cools down quickly - if you don't get that toast out of there right away, it's too cold to butter. Maybe I'll buy a cheaper toaster that works but keep this one on the counter so I can enjoy its good looks. I wonder what I'll do with all my free time in the morning??


The best toaster made. This is our 2nd toaster in 15 years. We bought this exact same model when we were first married and we expect this new toaster to outlast the first model. These appliances are workhorses!.


I bought this product (the 4 slice, shiny chrome model) back in June 2004. I had "discovered" Dualit toasters a couple of months prior, and had been coveting one, as my 2 year old Wally World toaster was starting to kick the bucket. Since my family and I had now went through 3 toasters in only 12 years, I started thinking it might make sense to buy a higher quality product.

When I first started researching them on the internet, I truly was mind-boggled by the price. However, by the next morning, when I had to toast my son's frozen waffles 4 times in a row in our only 2 year old Wally World toaster, I started reconsidering. So, I returned to Amazon and placed it on my Wish List, with the plans of checking the price from time to time. Much to my suprise, a couple of months later, it went on a drastic sale...less than 50% of what it sells for today. I have no clue as to why...perhaps the box packaging design was changed, or something else? I really don't know, but as far as the toaster, it was brand new, and looks exactly like the ones being sold today.

A few days later, my Dualit arrived, and I anxiously took it out of the box. I was a little suprised at the large size of it, but it quickly grew on me as I like the retro look of it. It also had a nice hefty weight to it, that spoke of quality.

After plugging it in, I immediately tried it out on a couple of slices of white bread...and burned my toast to a charred black mess. The next time around, with a bit of experimentation with a lower number on the timer, I had toast success. Over the last 3 1/2 years, I have consistenly gotten evenly toasted bread, bagels, waffles, etc. When using a cold toaster, I get the best results by pre-heating it for just a minute...I put it on one number higher than I really want, and it pre-heats while I am getting my bread or bagel out of the bag. I love the lever that lets me check my toast any time I want, without actually stopping the toasting. Another reason I like this lever is because I usually buy Thomas's Mini Bagels. In a normal toaster, you'd have to dig these small bagels out with wooden tongs. In the Dualit, I simply give the lever a swift swat, and they pop right out. I also really like the fact that toast stays in until I manually pop it up. If I'm cooking eggs, bacon, etc and I'm not ready for the toast yet, it stays warm for a few minutes.

So...why did I give this great product only 4 stars instead of 5? First of all, I really do think it is overpriced. Remember as I said before, I paid slightly less than 50% of what Amazon is selling it for currently. So, I personally think I got the deal of the century, and it's worth every dollar that I paid for it. Secondly, it's a bit of a pain to remember to toggle the switch from 2 to 4 slices. I understand why this feature is there (energy saving), but it's still annoying. After 3 1/2 years we are well used to the switch now, and no longer forget about it. But for the first year or so, we ruined quite a few batches of toast. The third reason is the timer dial. Sometimes I decide to pop up my toast early, and there is still a good bit of time left on the dial. If I try to turn the dial the opposite way to turn the toaster off, it is VERY hard to turn...so difficult that I stopped doing it after a couple of tries, fearing that I would break something inside the timer gears. Perhaps that is just the way the timer dial is designed, but it would be nice if Dualit had addressed it in the instruction guide. The fourth reason, is that the slots are not wide enough to hold a jumbo bagel without smashing it a bit. I personally prefer the Thomas Mini Bagels, which will get practically lost in any toaster, but my husband and son prefer the jumbo bagels. Even though this product is made in England, and perhaps English people don't eat bagels, it would still behoove Dualit to redesign the product with wider slots...all the better for toasting sandwiches, wide bread, etc. Plus the jumbo bagel lovers of the world would be happy. :)

That's pretty much it for my review...long, but hopefully helpful to someone out there. I've already told my son that when his dad and I die, I plan on willing him the Dualit toaster along with my Kitchen Aid mixer (bought refurbished from Amazon for a pittance). He rolls his eyes at me now, but maybe his future wife will appreciate the gesture. :)

This isn't really related to my review, but does anyone know how to SAFELY clean the shiny chrome on the toaster? I'm not the best housekeeper, and don't wipe mine off after every use. As such, I've developed a few light brown stains around the top slots. I've tried using soap and water, and also Windex, but neither worked. I'm afraid of marring the beautiful finish and haven't tried anything else. Any suggestions? If so, please add a comment to this review. Thanks!




Yes, it is heavy, solid, and eye catching on your counter--a really sexy retro look. But all that restaurant-solidity does not function in the home kitchen. For the typical home use--morning toast--the heavy heating elements need to be preheated . . . before every cold use. That means every morning, forever, you have to put this monster through a blank cycle--a waste of electricity that is not justifiable. And even then the toast is shockingly uneven: it comes out zebra-like. Did I mention that this happens only after having spent minutes listening to the very loud mechanical timer? Then you look at your zebra toast, with that timer still buzzing in your ears, and you wonder why you paid $300. Don't be seduced by the sexy design; buy something else.


I have mixed feelings about this item. So much so that I put off reviewing it for a long time. I've owned mine over a year now, and it is time to speak up.

On the one hand, I really want to like it. And not just because I spent a good sized hunk of cash on it. I like the idea of an industrial, commercial-grade toaster that makes great toast, is indestructible, and looks great doing it.

On the other hand, I kind of don't like it. It takes up a lot of space, the slots aren't wide enough for a bagel, or deep enough for a wide piece of bread. I had to buy the optional sandwich cages to allow me to stuff bread into the slots that wouldn't otherwise fit. It needs to be preheated, and even after it is, the toast is inconsistent and uneven.

It does look great on the counter, and feels very heavy-duty. But, it just isn't very good at making toast, and that is supposed to be the point.

Sadly, I don't think I would buy this again.


We have had this toaster for 5 years and like the speed, quality and ease of toasting...Something is to be said for manual operation and you don't have to grab the toast when it pops. Just leave it in the toaster for up to 5 minutes and it stays warm.
We are presently looking to up grade to a 4 slot one. our children are waiting in line to inherate this old one!!1

Here is why I found this toaster to be a POS:
Uneven heat - different slots will brown or burn toast before other slots even warm up.
Unmarked controls - who can tell what the control switches do as they are unmarked.
Wont fit larger bread - bagels, challah, or large slices wont fit.
Entire unit gets too hot - will melt nearby plastics.
Bad customer service - try contacting Dualit and see what happens.
They wont be there for you as they are laughing all the way to the bank.

If you are considering spending $300.00 on a toaster this one isn't it.
The Dualit toaster has very poor engineering, poor build quality, bad design, and lacking customer service.

We have been using our new Circulon 2 Cookware for almost a month now and love it. We are washing them by hand instead of the dishwasher which is recommended by the mfg. This cookware heats up very fast and evenly compared to our other set so it does take a bit of getting use to especially if you cook on gas.


I waited a lot of years to get some good quality pans. When the kids moved out, I knew it was time to splurge. So, I looked on the internet to compare prices and reviews for a while before I bought them. I'm pretty much a tightwad! I'm glad I looked around, because I got a great price on Amazon. I LOVE these pans! They heat up very evenly, it's really hard to burn anything, which is usually very easy for me, and they are super easy to clean. I've had them for about a year now, and use them daily and they are still in excellent condition. My only regret is that I didnt buy them years ago!


We bought our original set of Circulon 2 at Macy's several years ago and just love them.

We only needed one additional pot, but discovered that it did not pay to buy just one, so we bought this smaller set.

Folks should be aware that Circulon makes several grades of cookware. The Circulon 2 is better quality than most of the others.

The pots and pans clean up well with a little care, and they are virtually indestructable. It makes no sense to buy the cheap stuff which has to be replaced every couple of years.


This cookware has really impressed me. It cleans up beautifully and the sizes of the pots are very convenient, especially the covered fry pan.
I highly recommend it.


This set is fantastic. The non-stick works great. No more margarine and no more stick. BUY IT.


i bought this for my niece and she loves the pots and pans. i have a set too and thats why i got her these.


I am thrilled about the quality and price of this set. Even eggs/omlettes don't stick and you don't need any oil or butter. The pans seem to heat and cool quickly and evenly and clean up is a snap. I have only had the set a couple of weeks so I don't know how long they will continue to look good but I've read good reviews on how they keep their new look!
